When she stumbles upon Mr. Perfect Luke Pressler defacing public property and catches it on camera: cue miracle. One mistake. All Luke wanted was a night to goof off, to blow off steam. The pressure of maintaining the perfect facade when his reality was crumbling around him had become too much, and next thing he knew, he was pretending to date Ayla Hawkins. But his little blackmailer turns out to be kind. Honorable. Opinionated. And just the breath of fresh air he didn’t even realize he was suffocating for. But Luke and Ayla come from different worlds, and once the election is over, their fauxmance will be, too.

Review of DON’T KISS THE MESSENGER by Katie Ray

A modern version of “Cyrano de Bergerac” that will have readers swooning. Heroine CeCe Edmonds has lived with a disfiguring scar on her face since she and her mother were in a car accident. The scars on her confidence and psyche are less noticeable than the scar on her face but just as impactful. She’s lived her life feeling as if everyone is judging her and thinking less of her because she feels she isn’t beautiful or perfect with the scar marring her face. When new kid and new quarterback of the football team, Emmett Brady, enters her life CeCe is intrigued. Her hopes are seemingly dashed when Brady shows interest in the hot and beautiful transfer student, Bryn DeNeuville. Cece’s fear that beauty is all that matters in life and love seems to be confirmed when Brady starts pursuing Bryn. Bryn is beautiful and a talented athlete but fairly shallow. She thinks Brady is hot but she gets tongue tied around him and asks CeCe to help her communicate with him via text and email messages. Will helping Bryn win Brady’s heart mean losing her own? Review of TRUE NORTH by L. E. Sterling

***Now Available***

Rarely does a sequel live up to the hype of the original but TRUE NORTH manages to do just that. Author L.E. Sterling set the bar pretty high with her first book in the series, TRUE BORN, and she manages to rise above. Perfect blend of bleak dystopian landscape; mystery and political intrigue; and a hint of steamy romance will have readers eagerly turning pages. Fantastic characters will draw readers in. Can’t recommend this book and series highly enough.

When Storm backtracks on his promise to rescue Margot, Lucy takes her fate into her own hands and sets off for Russia with her True Born bodyguard and maybe-something-more, the lethal yet beautiful Jared Price. As they say in Dominion, sometimes it’s not you…it’s your DNA.

Review of OFF THE ICE by Julie Cross

***Available NOW***

Julie Cross gives us a wonderful romance that will draw readers in from the very first page. This is not your typical YA book, full of fluff and hearts and stars. There are some controversial subjects brought up in the book, including: teen pregnancy; underage drinking; physical and emotional abuse; cancer; sexuality; and sex. They are brought up in such a way that they blend seamlessly into the story. There is no “shock and awe” intended. There is no conscious effort to “gotcha” the reader. The book manages to still be an enjoyable read despite the sometimes heavy subject matter. Readers will be drawn into the story and become invested in the character’s lives. Definitely recommend!
